Automated Valuation Model
An electronic method of evaluating a property's appraised value, done by scanning public records and other data for recent home sales in the subject property's neighborhood.
This method is not yet widely accepted as a replacement for full-blown appraisals, but many within the industry expect AVMs to eventually replace traditional appraisals altogether.
